“I am the community project coordinator at Huddersfield University on the Textile Craft Degree Course. As part of my role I set up workshops within schools and community groups in which my students off the Textile Craft course can volunteer to gain invaluable experience of teaching and workshop delivery.
This panel was created at All Saints Catholic High School in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England by pupils in year 9 (13 and 14 years old). The students from the University went into the school and taught hand made felting, embroidery, applique and beading. Each of the 15 pupils created a mini panel using felt they had made themselves.
These were then sewn onto a 2 foot sq fabric panel. We then had an exhibition of the panels created in a 2 schools at the University and the local press came and took photos to write a report for our newspaper – the Huddersfield Examiner”
