Teacher Jane LaFazio and Mundo Lindo in San Diego, CA.
“Mundo Lindo is a free after school art program that I created and teach. The Kids (4th & 5th graders) brainstormed for a theme, discussing what was important to them for the future.
We came up with respect, then I found the quote from Benito Juarez, “Respect for the rights of others means peace” and it was perfect. The kids drew pictures depicting what the phrase meant to them, then hand stitched their work.
I sewed the squares together and a friend machine embroidered the quote.
