What is the Story behind your artwork?
“Military power… serves the cause of peace by holding up a shield
behind which the patient, constructive work of peace can go on.”
President Dwight D. Eisenhower Annual Address to Congress – January 9, 1958
My husband, David, spent his entire career in the aerospace industry,
mostly on defense contracts, working to ensure the shield held strong
and hoping someday it would no longer be needed. The above Eisenhower
quote was posted in his office for years because it so exemplified what
he felt his life’s work was about.
Shortly after he died, I heard about the Dream Rocket.
I wanted his two grandsons, Alexander Frank (8 y/o), Woodland Hills, CA a
nd Ethan Frank (7 y/o), Los Gatos, CA, to each draw a picture that
reminded them of their beloved Pops and what they remembered about him.
