Tell us the story behind your artwork –

I am fascinated by the image of the crow in Native American stories from the Pacific Northwest — intelligent and mysterious they act as intermediaries between human beings and higher powers — they symbolize flight both spiritually and physically.

The crow in this panel began as a trial proof for a large format woodcut print. I wanted to create a panel for the Dream Rocket using traditional printmaking techniques, but I also wanted to be sure it was weather resistant — in the end I digitally altered the original image and printed it onto vinyl. It seems fitting that this piece incorporates ancient techniques with computer technology as it represents the eternal dream of peace.
