Title:
“Join Hands for Peace
Dream Theme: Peace
Organizer: Maryellen J. Keogh
Techniques & Materials Used: Hands were traced on fabric and cut out and joined on to the main panel; lettering was done with fabric paints
What is your artwork about?
The girls traced their hands on different colored fabrics. After they were cut out, the hands were arranged on the orange panel in the form of the Peace Symbol, each hand overlapping the other. The bottom on the Peace Symbol is left open providing space for more helping hands to join in the process of peace, and all are invited to join in.
Peace is possible if everyone makes the decision to work towards it. You begin with yourself, developing a peaceful heart. Keep some peace and pass the rest on to the next person, perhaps in your family, your friends, your neighborhood and keep going, keep inviting people to join hands, helping to bring peace to our world.
Participants: The Girl Scouts of Holy Name include Troops 2356, 2226, 2359, 2402 and 2029
What other projects could the IFC do? The Brooklyn Bridge
