“Go Green – Your World Needs You”
Dream Theme: Conservation
Organizer: Maryellen J. Keogh
Techniques & Materials Used: Designs were either drawn and cut out or cut out from Girl Scout Fabric; Letters were stenciled and colored with fabric paint; the pieces were sewn together and backed with a girl scout fabric.
What is your artwork about?
The girls made a Snowgirl. Green was chosen to represent the earth against a blue background to represent the sea and the sky. Girl Scouts promise to live by the Girl Scout Law. Included in the law are a number of things, but the girls chose to focus on the parts that call for Girl Scouts to use resources wisely and make the world a better place.
Going Green reminds us to protect our earth. We have to conserve and preserve our resources. We all have to do out part and the Girl Scouts of Holy Name are trying to theirs and hope you can do yours as well.
Participants: The Girl Scouts of Holy Name include Troops 2356, 2226, 2359, 2402 and 2029
What other projects could the IFC do? The Girl Scouts are celebrating their 100th anniversary of scouting in this country in 2012 – so maybe a huge Trifoil.
