What is your artwork about?
My original intention in making this panel was to showcase the physical beauty of “Peace” as a word as a reflection of its beauty as a concept. The delicate nature of filet crochet made it the media of choice to express this intention When “fine-tuning” started to take months instead of days, I realized that I had to abandon the pursuit of perfection and start crocheting the panel. The end result may have flaws in symmetry and spacing but the overall effect is still a celebration of Peace as art.
The beautiful take away from this experience is that it doesn’t matter how peace evolves, just that it begins.”
Did you enjoy working on this project? “Yes, it is always a pleasure to participate in something that makes the individual a part of the whole yet maintain their own voice.”
What other projects could the IFC do? Giant globe covered in fabric art handprints. Blue & Green shades or rainbow.
