Title: Blast Off Into the Future
Dream Theme: Community/Imagination
Materials and Techniques Used: Fabric, bleach, recycled clothing, beads, thread, bedazzler. Hand sewn except for the rocket, which we had a machine for.
What is your group’s artwork submission about? Our quilt started out as individual panels depicting imagination and when we sewed everything together, it took on a new sense of community. We chose to tie everything together with a rocket since we made this quilt for a rocket.
Does your group have any ideas of other projects and/or places to display artwork?
We could hang art in many places around Madison, WI.
Right now they are renovating a library on the Capital Square. Since it is completely empty inside, there is a collaborative art show with the UW and artists in the community.
Location Ideas for other displays: Our club, public schools, MSCR, Capitol Square, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (kids space), libraries

Did your group enjoy working on this project?
We could not stop working on this quilt because we kept thinking of ways to make it better. This was our first big collaborative project and everyone’s first time sewing.
