Title: Help the Homeless

Teacher and organizer: Winki Allen

Dream Theme: Stop Poverty/Community

Materials & techniques used: We used paper and pencils, cloth, permanent markers and paint pens, fabric paint, sponges, and fabric glitter paint. Mrs. Winki Allen sewed the panel on her sewing machine.

Participants:  Mrs. Winki Allen, Jayden, Taylor B., Taylor W., Chloe, Lindsey, Ethan, Colton, Reagan, Alana, Justin, B. J. and Roman.

What is your art about? Our group worked on individual ideas which we shared and talked about. We then decided that we wanted to focus on poverty and the homeless. We worked in groups to draw several ideas and then decided on one idea for artwork on our panel. Every student participated in some part of the design and painting of the work. We had a visitor in our class who shared information about a new homeless clinic in town and how we could help the homeless population in Meridian. We collected food, toiletries, medical supplies and other items for the clinic. We also helped make plastic yarn from Wal-Mart bags for mats.
