Title: Ellis Trail

Dream Theme: Chasing freedom in Nicodemus (Freedom)

Materials and techniques used:
All panels were created on canvas and were colored with Sharpie fabric staining markers.

About: Africans seeking freedom in Nicodemus walk 40 miles from Ellis.

Each kid was given the opportunity to choose a theme and depict their dream. I wanted the kids to have full creative power, and what they have produced is a look inside their heads.

Did you enjoy participating?
Yeah I did. I made my my own test panel and had fun with that. The kids seemed to love it, but were fairly young, so their creative attention only lasted about an hour. I think it would have been great to work with some older students to see what they produced, but I also like the raw imagination that the younger kids put into their art.
