Title: Rock-A-Chute: Inventing the Model Rocket
Theme: Technological Advances: Aviation Throughout the Years (Technology)
Materials: We created this image using a batik resist process. We drew our image in pencil before using a combination of toothpaste and aloe vera lotion to protect the white fabric. After painting the cloth, we washed out the toothpaste/lotion to reveal the white lines. We finished the image using a sharpie to bring out the details.
About: Being from Norfolk, Nebraska we wanted to honor Orville Carlisle. Mr. Carlisle was a shoe salesman and master pyrotechnician who invented the first model rocket. His original Rock-A-Chute is on display at the National Air and Space Museum.

About: After discussing all the different ways people travel through the air we decided that a hot air balloon may be the most peaceful and beautiful. Students created this image showing two gorgeous balloons passing above the plains.
