Title: Above Earth Space Station
Materials: Acrylic paint; watercolor paint;watercolor pencils; glitter glaze; graphite; mixed media.
About: After visiting Astro Camp I decided to make my own painting in art class, inspired by a TV show and the paintings of Henri Rousseau, a surrealist who painted wild animals and exotic plants without ever leaving Paris, his home town!I depicted a cool space station floating above planet Earth and was influenced by the show called “Doctor Who.” I have never left planet Earth, but think that it would be great to be in a real space station – maybe some day my dream will come true!
Did your group enjoy working on this project? I liked working on this project because I loved drawing the shapes and turning the painting into a mixed-media collage of shapes and colors in order to make my theme come to life!

Title: Space Exploration
Materials: Paper, glue, glitter, colored pencil, pencil, crayon, marker, laminate.
About: These pieces were created with space exploration in mind. The first piece looks at the journey through the movies showing an RV traveling in space. The second piece, The Journey, shows a rocket traveling through a sparkly outer space on an adventure to find new things. The third piece, Who’s Who in Space is a nod to Dr. Who. The students created bits and pieces from the movie and combined them with images in their minds for a creative piece. The final piece, The Future?, looks at what space may look like in the distant future with new cities coming up.
Did you enjoy working on this project? They did. It was a great learning experience to trust the next class to pick up where you left off.
