About: These pieces were created with space exploration in mind. The first piece looks at the journey through the movies showing an RV traveling in space. The second piece, The Journey, shows a rocket traveling through a sparkly outer space on an adventure to find new things. The third piece, Who’s Who in Space is a nod to Dr. Who. The students created bits and pieces from the movie and combined them with images in their minds for a creative piece. The final piece, The Future?, looks at what space may look like in the distant future with new cities coming up.

Title: Several Wrinkles in Time
Theme: Space
Materials: Acrylic paint; 80 lb. paper; graphite and assorted mixed media.
About: After spending three days with my classmates at Astro Camp, I learned about Henri Rousseau and that he painted dreamlike scenes of the jungle without ever having left Paris! I thought that I could invent a piece that depicted my version of outer space. My work features a black hole that is ingesting a star. The central theme is surrounded by the millennium falcon, a few galaxies and a car from the movie “Back to the Future!” I think that it would be awesome to visit outer space and to find out that it looks like my painting!
Did you enjoy working on this project? I really liked working on this project because astronomy and art are two of my great passions!
