Materials: Tea Bags, coffee filter, fabric dyed with tea, tea leaves, Elthread and batting

About: Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it’s in hot water.”

We began by making a cup of tea and discussed the different rituals that accompany the experience. We each spoke personally about Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote and we came to the conclusions that we are 4 young girls, each with a unique strength: Dreamer, Visionary, Seeker of Knowledge, Caretaker Using the tea bags from our cup of tea, we were challenged to create a piece of artwork that represented our strength and how they can positively effect our community.

Title: Reading The Tea Leaves

Theme: Eleanor Roosevelt

Materials: I used dried rose petals and baby’s breathe, gears, metal wire, acrylic paint, sharpie and thread.

Did you enjoy this project? I very much enjoyed this project, especially because I had more freedom and were able to show my personality and find out what makes me strong like Eleanor!

About: It’s about showing that all these different ideas and wheels turning in my head would bring my fate of what I will do in the world. Also I was inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt quote “A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is until you put her in hot water.” I show how my strength will bring me to my purpose in life.
