Title: Women of Influence
Theme: Influential Woman
Materials: Students drew the face of the woman that they choose, then traced them onto Styrofoam for ink printing. They then used Craypas (oil pastels) to create a background design on material. Students then used printing ink to ink the print plates and print on the fabric. The fabric was tied together to form a quilt. Students added the names of each woman and their own.
Did you enjoy this project? Yes. It was particularly fun for them because they were allowed to work on it as an extra art project in addition to their weekly class.
About: Students studied about various woman in their classroom for Women’s History Month. They choose one of the woman from many different walks of life that they thought was very influential in shaping our country both from a historical and contemporary perspective. The choose woman such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Betsy Ross, Sojourner Truth, Georgia O’Keefe (artist) Beyonce, Oprah, and Rosa Parks.
