Title: Freedom Dreams
Materials: Students designed their symbols, and made stencils. We used fabric paint on our T-shirts, and also on to the 2′ x 2′ fabric that was recycled from a donated shirt for the Dream Rocket. We stenciled the designs onto the fabrics and one student created the big “E” for Eleanor and her achievements.
About: The children chose symbols of themselves, things that were close to their hearts that they could wear and put onto their T-shirts that we were repurposing and refashioning. The students listened to stories about Eleanor Roosevelt, and her dreams and aspirations and discussed them.
Did you enjoy this project? Yes, we had a great time with all aspects of this project. The students were engaged and excited to think that they would be participating to cover the rocket and to be exhibiting their work.
