Materials and techniques: White cotton, embroidery thread and a preprinted cotton representing the flag of the United States was a perfect way to show the direction that my family, as well as many others, has taken to participate in the immigration process.

About: Immigration is a subject that I feel deeply about. Early immigration brought my ancestors from Ireland, Scotland and Germany to the United States after it’s independence in1776. Continuing in that tradition, my husband was an immigrant from Latvia in 1953. His ancestors were also immigrants from France and Sweden. My daughter-in-law’s are of Mexican, Native American and Lapland and Swedish heritage. Truly a mix that makes this “melting pot” great.
