Title: Cat’s Eye Nebula
Materials and techniques: Nothing seemed to capture the image of Outer Space better than the transparent glitter of a dancer’s fabric with it’s multiple layers of a shimmering, ever-changing textile. With the addition of variegated threads, sequins, beads and one prized button, the quilted process began.
Did you enjoy this project? It was an absolute pleasure to work on this submission and to dream of space and it’s mystery and beauty.
About: When researching ideas for this space themed artwork, I was drawn to a photograph I had seen taken by Hubble. Not only was the Cat’s Eye Nebula beautiful but the name itself was interesting. It seemed to represent the mystery that is Outer Space.
