Title: Mars

Theme: Mars

Student Statements:

McKenna: I put a lot of swirls and colors into the project. I used small big paintbrushes and spray bottles. Also, I used tons and tons of paint. When people see this I want them to wonder. Wonder about the bright colors of outer space and curious what is on what’s out there. I chose this because I wanted it to be different or try to make it different. I wanted it to make people feel something.

Mia: I started this project with a blank two feet by two-foot canvas and sketched out Mars. We then painted the back ground black. After we used different shades or red and orange going darker to light. When it dried I put white “swirls” around realizing it had no dimension. I tried putting grays and lighter shades in the white and failed. I soon decided to take the same acrylic paint as before used on the Mars and blending it out so you can still see the “swirls.” I succeeded to spray white stars using spray bottles and water. I was going to end there but it looked boring. I got a friend to help out with the word “wonder” the paint began to dry and frantically tried to fix it. Instead I used it to my advantage and sprayed more paint and let it drip.

Title: Plummet to Mars

Theme: Mars

Student Statements:

Erin: Me and my friend Brooke painted on a 2 x 2 foot canvas. We painted our school on a chunk of earth. We were going to paint us and a Martian but we didn’t have time. Our school is Galaxy Middle. Home of the rockets and comets. That is why we have them in the painting. We painted the rocket going to Mars by the way. We drew Saturn in the background to make it feel less lonely because the theme is that we are united.

Brooke: My partner and I received a two foot by two-foot canvas to use in this project. We used reds, blues, greens, and more. Imagine the earth blew up into over a trillion pieces and coincidentally an entire school survived now it is on a crash course to Mars. We used ordinary paintbrushes and acrylic paints. This is an unnamed painting, but we think it speaks for itself.

Title: Dead Pool deFence

Theme: Mission to Mars

Student Statements:

Ryan: 1. I used a pencil to draw and a paintbrush to paint the background and the letters. What we drew on fabric that has a tan color. 2. Because we like the game it’s based on, when I look at it, it reminds me of good times when I played this with me uncle. When I was young.

Jacob: I took a 2 x 2 Ft. piece of fabric and painted two borders on the top and bottom then the rest of the canvas I put paint and water into a spray bottle and sprayed the rest of the canvas with black paint. Me being inspired by the game Space Invaders, and what they set up for the video game world. So I did that for my theme. First, I put a 3 at the bottom left to represent the space ships lives. Second, I wrote Mission to Mars at the bottom. Third, added the green aliens, then I put in the main space ship but painted him red, then added the barriers. I made this because how the game started. So much for video games, just like what the Mission to Mars will do for our space adventure.

Christopher: We took a paintbrush and painted a black background then painted our ship and enemy’s. We used a napkin and dabbed orange onto our meteoroids, painted a white top and bottom so you could see a score and name.
We chose our image because people are trying to colonize mars and we are defending it as Dead Pool from its perilous colonators (aliens).

Kyler: I started off with a blank canvas that I cut and then I cut out stencils of each of the aliens we sprayed the whole background with black then painted each and every alien. Then I painted all the bonkers and words by hand and used maroon paint and a napkin to dab the bonkers with paint to give it texture. Then I painted on the words Mission to Mars. Then I used a black spray bottle and sprayed the top line with white and black speckles. We all did a good job and I think it looks good.
