Materials and techniques: The students used styrofoam boards to draw into and rolled printing ink on the plates. Then the students pressed this inked plate onto cloth.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, the group thoroughly enjoyed working on this project. We even carried it to another step and created hand painted pictures of the Mars Life we created in print. We will display our hand painted pictures in our school and use it to express an art idea for our new STEAM School Curriculum.

About: This 4th grade artwork is about the student’s idea of what they think the inhabitants of Mars might look like.

About: The students were presented with the Theme of Life on Mars. We decided to cut a large piece of red material, because Mars can be referred to as the “Red Planet”, into irregularly shaped pieces to resemble a puzzle. Each student was given a piece of the puzzle, so to speak, and asked to paint their idea of “Life on Mars.” The pieces were reassemble and glued to a mostly black and printed piece of cloth.
