Title: “We’re Still Fighting”

Theme: Women’s Rights

Materials and techniques: Plain canvas with gesso and acrylic paints.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, looking back at what women did to get us where we are now and the actual torture some of them endured in order to gain the rights we have now is some of the most interesting research I’ve done to date.

About: There were many women’s rights movements in American History. This piece makes an effort to have the viewer unite all of the women involved in these movements as one. The women depicted represent the suffragette movement and their valiant and ultimately successful effort to gain the right to vote. Next to her is a women involved in the late 60’s movement of burning bras to promote freedom and gender equality. On the far left is girl now working against gender discrimination, and fighting for the right to make decisions about her own body.
