Artist statement: “My project was about how women should have as much of equality as a man does because men and women should be equal. My project is called ‘Men of Equality and Women of Equality’. It means that men and women should be making the same amount of money at our jobs. I’m going to do what I can do to make change in our world. This is what my project was all about.”

Teacher statement: The advanced students had a presentation from one of our history teachers on women’s suffrage. They developed their questions before hand and answered them during the presentation. The students were pit into groups of 2-3 and developed their ideas in a sketch book, then finished their 2×2 final for substitution.

Artist statement:
“Our project represents how women and men are no different, both sexes are human beings. Women even has the word “men” in it. So what’s the difference? Our project has a poem that states why humans should judge one another the same. Men and women should be equal, women deserve to have the same rights as men.
We drew two figures and colored one in blue to represent a man and we colored the other figure red to represent a woman. On top of both of them is a speech box saying how they are different. Then in between them is the male symbol and the female symbol combined. We colored it purple because the two human figures are blue and red and red and blue makes purple.
Women should be treated just as fair as men because women are very important, without them there would be no other generations who could possibly change the world.”

Artist statement:
“For the women’s rights project we made a motivational poster to represent equality among women and men. We used a variety of line and patterns throughout the poster using pen and marker.
We added a quote from Hellen Keller to make a bold statement about being equal. The unique design inside the people represents individuality, as we all have our own personality and should impact the world in our own way.”
