Did you enjoy this project? Yes, I liked the project.

About: The three of us had the whole art room and the paints and fabric were on easels to paint right away. That made it easy and fun. The computers were set up as a resource. I am really glad I took the time to enter art to
represent Montera Middle School.

Title: We Are Proud

Theme: American Heroes

Materials and techniques: The materials I used to make this project were a piece of fabric, many different color paints, iron, yard stick, pencil, paper, tape, and brushes.

Did you enjoy this project? I enjoyed doing this project because it reminded me how much this country did to get where we are today.

About: The painting I painted symbolizes how my great uncle was a general in World War II and fought as hard as he could to get where my family is.

If it wasn’t for him, the future for him and later family would have changed. I made a silhouette of a sniper on the battlefield battling yet another day as a dove flew past representing peace among the land along with the olive branch. Also, a ripped USA flag sways in the wind and stuck to the ground showing how the soldiers never gave up and stayed strong all the way.

The colorful sunset darkens through the night as one bright star stayed as bright as the sun. “We are proud,” I quoted on the silhouette to tell the people that people wanted to protect everyone with no hesitation. The footprints show what is left of the soldiers after war and the past on.

My principal, Mr. Avants, shared with my classmates that he was in the Marine Corps. His first tour was when he was 2nd lieutenant and next tour, he was a lieutenant captain. Also, my brother, Sean, is doing Sea Cadets and boot camp so he can be in the Navy. The strongest branch of service is the air force because it uses technology.

My friends, Cielo and Christina are interested in the Army.

My experience while painting my creation was like expressing my feelings in a different way, in a different dimension. I can express how much love I have for my great uncle for how he fought in a war of horror. I made this painting because I wanted to express my feelings in a different way and also show that part of my family was in the military.
