Title: Water Changes Things: Soluble Ink
Teacher: Mrs. Hoppe
Theme: 200 Years of Guides at Mammoth Cave
Materials and techniques: Water-soluble and alcohol-soluble markers, cotton fabric, burlap, yarn and thread.
Did you enjoy this project? Yes.
About: As water makes its way through crevices and caves, it affects their structures in some way. As it touches our water-soluble marker maps of Mammoth Cave, it expands the ink. Water leaves its mark on what it touches. As explorers and guides learn more about Mammoth Cave, they can teach others about this underground wonder. These guides leave an impression on those they touch with their leadership and teaching. Although our handmade maps may no longer be legible, they are tributes to the students’ explorations of the amazing treasures to be found in Mammoth Cave.
