Title: Bedquilt Cave
Theme: 200 Years of Guides at Mammoth Cave
Materials and techniques: I started this quilt by making a bed with a quilt on it. Then I wanted to represent the cave with something different. I ironed several plastic bags together to get the texture I wanted for the cave opening. Lumiere paint filled in the background areas of the quilt. I glued the melted plastic bags onto a cotton background, over the bed. I also added a bit of glow-in-the-dark paint around stactites and stalagmites.
Did you enjoy this project? Yes.
About: I chose to feature the Bedquilt Cave as it is one of the lesser-known at Mammoth Cave. I’m a quilter, so of course I had to do this! I’ve been to Mammoth Cave, but I really don’t remember seeing anything about Bedquilt Cave.
