Title: The Struggle

Teacher: Mrs. Stadnik

Theme: From Coal to Steam

Materials and techniques: Acrylic on canvas, contact paper, and an X-acto knife.

Did you enjoy this project? Very much so, it was fun.

About: Our idea was to show a locomotive and have it in the background. We splattered over our stencil to create a canvas covered in red, grey, black and white. The colors represent red for the blood and hard work it takes to get the coal from the ground, the black for the coal itself, grey for the smoke and steam that billows from the burning coal and white for the sweat it takes to get the coal from ground to use.

Title: Underground to Outer Space

Teacher: Mrs. Stadnik

Theme: From Coal to Steam

Materials and techniques: Acrylic paint on canvas.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes.

About: We did this because the coal is underground and needs to be mined. Once mined it can be a source of fuel for anything, even a rocket to mars.

Title: Training for Flight

Teacher: Mrs. Stadnik

Theme: From Coal to Steam

Materials and techniques: Acrylic paint on canvas.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, we love to paint.

About: Our artwork represents the way coal is moved around the country and in our background we see the rocket that will eventually use the coal to make steam to lift off. We can see our train making its way back to the place where our rocket waits.
