Materials and techniques: I used pencil to draw it out and fabric markers and sharpies to add color. I left the background white so it looks like the book is floating, suspended in time.

About: Paul Lawrence Dunbar’s Poem “Invitation to Love”. I did a book open to the page and wrote his poem on one side and drew a picture of the invitation being open day or night. True love is always available.

Title: Taking Flight

Theme: I’ll have an order of lift with a side of cow.

Materials and techniques: Pencil, cow and plane references, and acrylic paint. We mixed paints to create the exact colors we needed and used wet and dry brush techniques.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, we had fun trying to figure out how to draw a cow and where to place the cow and plane.

About: The Wright brothers flight over the cow pastures. We thought it was a funny theme and really liked planes and cows. We thought it was cool how they tested flights over a cow pasture.
