Title: Abstract Vanderbilt Garden

Teachers: Mrs. Kliza and Mrs. Fleischman

Theme: History

Materials and techniques: Fabric, beads, acrylic paint, and thread.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes. Collaboration is a challenging and fun way to work.

About: Our students looked at images of the formal garden at the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site in New York. They used the garden as the basis for the design that they chose to paint. Then they chose a quote from Franklin D Roosevelt that had to do with creativity. The home of FDR is another National Historic Site very close to the Vanderbilt Mansion. The students were trying to show that the historic generations of the past can influence the creative things that we do today and in the generations to come.
