Title: Contradiction

Teacher: Mr. Baker

Theme: Death Valley National Park

Materials and techniques: Acrylic paint on canvas.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, very much.

About: The national park I chose was Death Valley National Park. The bright colors of the landscape made me want to paint it. I love the different colors of the clouds and the pink dunes. I think my painting was successful. It took me a while to learn how to do the transition of light to dark in the dunes and mountains, but near the end I finally learned how to do that smooth transition. My favorite part of my painting is the clouds. I feel they add a lot of color to the painting.

Title: Acadia National Park

Teacher: Mr. Baker

Theme: Springtime

Materials and techniques: Acrylic paint on canvas.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes.

About: I chose Acadia national park which is located on Maine’s Mount Desert Island, because of its special features and how I would love to visit the park. The special features of it consist of its diversity of landscape, there are placid lakes and ponds. What attracted me to this specific place is how large and wide open its lake is and how beautiful it looks in springtime.
It took about two weeks to complete my painting and within those two weeks, I’ve enjoyed having to paint the lake and rocks. Something I learned is having to paint rocks edges softer with less texture the further they are away from the viewer. What wasn’t easy was painting the rocks simply because it had to look realistic. Overall, I appreciate and enjoyed painting Acadia National Park, it gives insight to how it looks and it’s a place I plan to visit.

Title: The Cloudy Night

Teacher: Mr. Baker

Theme: Nighttime in Zion National Park

Materials and techniques: Acrylic paint on canvas

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, really enjoyed the theme and research.

About: I chose Zion National Park because I really like night skies. My painting is a silhouette. I chose this scene because I really like the purple colors of the night sky. I enjoyed painting this because I was comfortable in outlining the rocks and representing proportional sizes. This place is gorgeous because of the rocks that are everywhere. The stars seem really enhanced and beautiful because of the high altitude.

Title: Blue Water

Teacher: Mr. Baker

Theme: Monochromatic painting of Delhi National Park.

Materials and techniques: Acrylic paint on canvas.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, very much.

About: I chose to paint a landscape of Delhi National Park because the contrast of the colors stood out to me. The moose and the water are the focal point. Even though I had trouble and had to start over a few times, I am proud of my painting.

Title: Sunset over the Peaks

Teacher: Mr. Baker

Theme: Glacier National Park

Materials and techniques: Acrylic paint on canvas.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, very much.

About: My painting is of Glacier National Park in Montana. I found this park to be more interesting than the others because of the way the light hits the water over the mountains. I changed the picture a little bit to what I felt it should look like. The sky went from orange to a pink, and I changed the scene from fall to winter, and what I thought it would look like in winter.
