About: Looking to history of New Bedford heritage we organized this tapestry which almost looks like an old quilt. We wanted it to have an antique quality but also express the vibrant colors we enjoy. A sun dial, lit candle and carved bone show in thirds of this work. We hope you enjoy reminiscing about these nostalgic items.

Materials and techniques: Batik and painting.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes, we did.

About: We show the original symbols of New Bedford as a whaling town with spears, direction in a compass, water waves and flags representing the different peoples coming to the coastline. We strongly believe that these images show the power and strength that New Bedford once supported and look forward to a time where the unity of its people and the economy will be able to raise up this town once again.
