Title: Dreams of the Artist
Dream Theme: Art
Materials & techniques used: Rust and transfer-dyed recycled silk blouses for the border of the work. Rust dyed and painted cotton fabric for the hands. Rust dyed and painted silk fabric for the earth. All paints are non-toxic heat set French silk paints. I also used oil-based paint pens, a small dragon fly stamp and some sponge and brush painted images on the background fabric of the work. Machine stitched
What is your art about? My artwork is about the work of my hands and life. It is an attempt to explain that I share my experiences and journeys through my art...and may represent the beauties of nature, or images from readings of scripture, or ideas that just pop into my head. It represents how I take those images and put them into my work. I found a Vincent Van Gogh quote that so perfectly fit the work (and he is one of my favorite artists!): "I dream of painting, and then I paint my dreams."
