Artist Bio

Jennifer Marsh

Jennifer Marsh was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Her mother, Cindy Marsh, worked for most of her life in the medical field. Her determination and passion for her career and interest in her field proved to lend an inspiring hand toward Jennifer’s success down the road.  David Marsh, her father, worked in the construction and remodeling business. Jennifer often credits her father’s superb ability to work with his hands, his problem solving, and his council concerning Jennifer’s business and construction affairs. While attending high school she was introduced to a vocational two-year high school program that focused on the fine arts.  Marsh recalls,

“At first, I attended this half-day program just to get out of regular school classes, but over the course to the two-year program, I became immersed in my classes and discovered that I was passionate about the fine arts. It was as if I had been lost for all those years and then I was swooped up by the power of the visual.”

From 2000 to 2004, Jennifer studied sculpture at the Columbus College of Art and Design and graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.  In 2005 Jennifer enrolled in Syracuse University’s school of Visual and Performing Arts program in Syracuse, New York. Focusing her attention on sculpture, Jennifer graduated in 2008, with a Master of Fine Arts.

It was in this last year of graduate school that Jennifer crossed her first professional milestone, the Gas Station Wrap, and in turn, the International Fiber Collaborative was born. With the excitement of international press, Jennifer accepted a one-year visiting Assistant Professor Position teaching sculpture at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama. One year later, with a large amount of support, Jennifer completed the Interdependence Tree project in Huntsville.

Gaining greater international support with every project, Jennifer aims for her third community-based public art initiative called The Dream Rocket, to be displayed in May and June 2010, at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville.
