What is your group's artwork about?
As Cadette Girl Scouts, the girls determine the structure and direction of meetings and projects. This is a new concept for our girls who are use to adults giving direction. 
When they were challenged to come up with a design for the panel, they could not agree upon a single design. In a negotiated compromise, each girl was allocated an 8x8 square to implement her own design. The panel reflects the diversity of the ideas and dreams of adolescent girls.

What is your group's artwork about? 
I am the leader of a Brownie Girl Scout troop for girls with special needs. 
Since our girls really don't understand what a dream is (other than the kind 
they have while sleeping) the moms discussed what our dreams were for our daughters. 
We decided that more than anything we wanted our girls to be accepted for who they were, 
disabilities and all.
I had the moms give me a picture of the girls and asked the girls to 
draw a picture for me. I scanned their artwork into the computer and printed 
it onto fabric. I scanned in their picture and put their heads inside the flowers. 
These flowers are above a heart labeled "Acceptance" because these girls truly 
blossom once accepted.
Did you enjoy this project?
Yes, however I have never made a quilt before in my life!
