Courtney Lee Weida
Assistant Professor, Art Education

Courtney Lee Weida is an Assistant Professor of Art Education at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. She has taught within studio art and craft programs for pre-K through twelfth grade within schools and community programs in Boston and New York. She is licensed in Visual Art, English, and Elementary classroom teaching. She completed her doctorate in Art & Art Education at Columbia University Teachers College. She earned an Ed.M. from Harvard University, specializing in Museum Education. Her B.A. (Northeastern University) included a double major in Visual Art and English Literature. Her dissertation and recent publications address ceramic art, studio craft, and gender issues in art education. As a practicing artist, she possesses a unique background in English literature and archaeology museum work that has informed her art and research in ceramics and craft. She welcomes dialogue with other educators about craft in education.
Shelley Bartenstein, Ph.D., GPC is a professional grant writer who helps organizations research funding opportunities and produce winning proposals. After a successful career in the private sector, first as a fine artist, medical illustrator, and scenic artist, then later as an instructional designer and organizational development specialist, she worked for ten years in the California State University developing and marketing continuing professional education programs. Nine years ago, Dr. Bartenstein launched her consulting business to assist others in developing grant proposals, marketing plans, and business plans. Shelley is a Certified Grant Professional, and Past President of the Southern California Chapter of the American Association of Grant Professionals; she has achieved an outstanding track record of grants awards: nearly $25 million from government and private sources. She has a BA in Fine Arts (UCLA), MS in Instructional Technology, and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Southern California.
