HUNTSVILLE, AL -- In May 2010, the 37-story Saturn V rocket will be "wrapped," in more than 8,000 pieces of hand-made fabric panels, and will become "The Dream Rocket."

This morning, Jennifer Marsh, a visiting art professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, spoke to more than more than 50 people at at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center about her vision for Huntsville's most visible landmark.

Dubbed "a global collaborative public art project," The Dream Rocket will feature more 37,000 square-feet of hand-made panels.The panels, according to Marsh, will come from volunteers and sponsors from "every state in the U.S and 100 countries."

Saturn wrapped in dreams

Marsh said The Dream Rocket, one of the word's largest public art projects, will create both tourism dollars and global recognition.

"Let's get the world dreaming again," Marsh said. "Nothing is impossible...Next May, the eyes of the world will be on Huntsville."

Following Marsh's speech, several officials, including Rep. Parker Griffith, Mayors Tommy Battle and Paul Finely, U.S. Space & Rocket Center CEO Larry Capps, director of the Alabama Tourism Department Lee Sentell, UAH President Davis Williams and CEO of the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Burea Judy Ryals, applauded the project.

The Dream Rocket will on display at the U.S Space and Rocket Center in May and June of 2010.
