Title: Dreaming of DNA
Dream Theme: Science / Technology
Participants: Dr. Chris Gunter and Dr. Neil Lamb
Materials & Techniques Used: Cotton fabric, Blue shiny sequin fabric, Good old sewing
What is your artwork submission about?
We are a nonprofit, biotechnology institute located in Huntsville, Alabama, and of course we had to participate in the Dream Rocket project. Our mission includes developing high-throughput research tools that focus on why disease occurs; working to rapidly apply this knowledge to help patients; and educating the students, teachers and citizens of Alabama on the benefits of biotechnology. So we chose to make a bright shiny DNA double helix for our panel.

Title: The Classroom
Theme: Education
Materials & Techniques Used: Sketching on cotton with mending edges
What is your artwork submission about?
This art piece is to help remember how important art is in all subjects, basically the primary ones. Without art we would not have the tools that are used everyday. There are music concepts in the picture to bring back the idea that music is part of art. Overall this picture is a hidden collage of reasoning and symbolism.
Did you enjoy this project?
Yes I did. This project helped explain a need for art education while presenting a unique way for drawing.
Do you have any ideas for other IFC projects?
Space programs are evolving at lightning speed, which makes it hard to predict where Earth will stand in a decade from now with technology.

This coming week, I am delighted to be worked with 2 Kansas Schools all week long!
Rossville Grade School in Rossville, KS and St. Mary’s Elementary School in St. Mary’s Kansas.
I will be attending all of Nadine Fisher’s (Art Teacher) classes at both of these schools and will be working with 550 students total. I created these kits in which the students can quickly make a artwork in the class time and then back at our studio the dream rocket team will cut their artworks out of the construction paper and assemble 6-8 of their artworks into a 2 foot x 2 foot panel. Between both schools we may be able to assemble 68 – 91 panels!!!!
Yay!!!!!
