DreamRocketSB

New York may have its Empire State building, Paris, its Eiffel Tower, D.C. its Washington Monument, but Huntsville, Alabama can lay claim to the Saturn V Moon Rocket, an exact replica of the vessel that took man to the moon.

Saturn V Rocket

Saturn V Rocket

Historians agree that the moon landing was the 20th century’s greatest event. In 1961, the odds makers placed 1000:1 odds against a successful moon landing; it was considered an ‘Impossible Dream.’

The Saturn V moon Rocket was the key to a successful mission, and is certainly the most amazing machine ever built.  In order to get to the moon and back safely, an engine of 165,000,000 horsepower was needed. It needed to accelerate from zero to 25,000 miles per hour to escape earth’s gravity.

If any of 3,000,000 parts failed, so would the mission. There was no room for error.

Inspired by President Kennedy’s bold vision of “a man on the moon by the end of this decade,” a team of almost half a million engineers and technicians from dozens of countries worked round-the-clock. They succeeded. Their ‘Impossible Dream’ was completed ahead of schedule, and under budget – and without a single Saturn V launch failure.

The 38-story Saturn V moon rocket is an inspiring and tangible reminder that when people from all over the world collaborate on an important mission that nothing is impossible. Any mission can be accomplished, any dream can come true, and any challenge can be met.

U.S. Space & Rocket Center®

U.S. Space & Rocket Center's 41st Birthday

The Dream Rocket team is extremely grateful to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center® in Huntsville, Alabama, for giving us the permission and opportunity to execute such an amazing project. The USSRC has gone above and beyond to support this initiative through countless meetings and superb council. We are inspired by how the USSRC actively reaches out on an international level to connect with youth and individuals, inspiring them about NASA, space and the possibilities of exploration. We have heard countless stories of former Space Camp alumni who through the USSRC’s space camp program, were inspired to pursue dreams.

U.S. Space & Rocket Center®, Huntsville, Alabama

“From incredible artifacts of our nation's space program, to hands-on interactive exhibits and space travel simulators, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center experience is unlike any other.”

Visitors to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center® will experience Huntsville's role in the making of the moon rocket, the space race, and the Apollo missions; learn about the Space Shuttle program, the International Space Station and NASA's Constellation project. Visitors may trace the evolution of humankind's ventures into space and watch as tomorrow's potential engineers, scientists and astronauts train in one of the Space Camp or Aviation Challenge Programs.

Founded in 1982, SPACE CAMP® and AVIATION CHALLENGE® (1990) located in Huntsville, AL, use space and aviation as a platform to excite and educate children ages 9 through 18, in the fields of math, science and technology.
SPACE CAMP programs range from 3 to 13 days, during which teamwork, self-confidence and communication will be achieved through state-of-the-art simulations, missions, rocket-building and robotics.

AVIATION CHALLENGE programs range from 3-13 days during which teamwork, self-confidence and communication will be achieved through state-of-the-art high-performance jet simulation, scenario-based missions, land and water survival training, and flight dynamics.

In addition to program-specific training, attendees will experience all that the U.S. Space & Rocket Center® Museum has to offer.

There is something for the whole family…
from our Olympus Mons Climbing Wall to the awesome IMAX® Spacedome Theater.  Hang on for a wild ride in our Mission to Mars motion-based simulator and blast off with 4 Gs on Space Shot™.   Try your hand at re-entering Earth's atmosphere in Land the Shuttle and spin 3 Gs in the G-Force Simulator.  It's all here at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center® where you can explore the past, present and future of America's space program.   We are also the perfect location for your special events, and home of Space Camp® and Aviation Challenge®.
